About the 5T Rough Terrain Forklift (4WD)
The 5T 4WD rough terrain forklift is designed for the heaviest outdoor lifting tasks on the most demanding site conditions. Powered by a Kubota diesel engine producing over 47kW, this machine combines a 5,000kg rated capacity with four-wheel drive traction to handle loads that would be beyond the reach of standard counterbalance forklifts or lighter RT machines. Large-section pneumatic tyres front and rear maintain traction and stability on soft ground, loose gravel, wet earthworks, and steep gradients — conditions where a 2WD machine would lose drive or require site preparation to operate safely. The mast lifts to 5,500mm, covering semi-trailer unloading, elevated structure access, and multi-level outdoor stacking without requiring a crane or elevated work platform. Wheelbase and turning geometry are optimised for a machine at this weight class, keeping it manoeuvrable on active sites without an excessive footprint.
For Geelong-region operations involving heavy construction materials, large precast concrete elements, infrastructure components, or significant agricultural loads, the 5T 4WD RT delivers a capability step-change over smaller machines. Four-wheel drive engagement is particularly valuable on remote sites, civil works projects with variable ground conditions, and agricultural settings where soft paddock ground or wet-weather tracks would stop a 2WD machine from reaching the work area. The diesel powertrain requires no charging infrastructure and refuels quickly, keeping the machine productive through extended shifts on sites without grid power access. Where terrain is firm and predictable, the 5T 2WD RT provides equivalent lift capacity at a lower hire rate — but for genuinely difficult conditions, the 4WD configuration eliminates the risk of getting bogged or losing traction under full load.
