The Smarter Alternative to Ownership

The Right Machine for Every Application
Articulating, telescopic, electric, and tracked spider lifts on hire
If you're not sure which machine suits your application, call us and we'll advise on the right fit. We'd rather you hire the right machine than one that doesn't do the job.
Choosing the Right Boom Lift: Height, Reach and Terrain
Three questions determine which boom lift is right for your job.
How high does the platform need to reach? Our range spans compact electric booms through to the JLG 1500SJ for maximum-height telescopic work.
Do you need to reach over or around an obstacle (choose a knuckle boom) or straight up in open space (choose a telescopic boom)?
Standard wheeled boom lifts suit hard, level surfaces. For soft ground, slopes, stairs or tight doorways, a tracked spider lift is the better fit.
Not sure which machine suits your job? Call our team on (03) 4241 2463 and we'll match you to the right boom lift for the height, reach and site conditions you're working with.

Frequently Asked Questions
An articulating (knuckle) boom has multiple hinge points, letting the arm fold and bend to route the platform up, over and around obstacles - useful on sites with existing structures, trees, or awkward access. A telescopic boom extends in one straight line and typically offers greater maximum height and horizontal reach in open, unobstructed areas. If your site is clear and you mainly need height, a telescopic boom is usually the more efficient choice; if you need to navigate around something to get to your work area, a knuckle boom will serve you better.
Every boom lift has a maximum rated wind speed set by the manufacturer, shown on the machine's data plate - operation must stop once conditions exceed that rating, and higher-reach machines are generally rated for lower wind speeds than compact models. We'll confirm the wind rating for the specific machine when you book, and can advise on a better-suited model if your site is exposed.
Standard wheeled boom lifts need firm, reasonably level ground to operate safely - soft, wet or heavily sloped sites call for a tracked spider lift instead. Some knuckle boom models also require outriggers or stabilisers to be deployed before the platform is raised. Tell us about your site surface and access when you enquire and we'll confirm setup requirements for the machine.
Yes - what most people call a cherry picker is what we stock as a boom lift. Our fleet covers everything most people mean by cherry picker hire, from compact electric units to full-height diesel knuckle booms. See our Cherry Picker Hire page for our most popular compact and self-propelled options.
